7 wonderful antique condition porcelain bread plates made in Milan, Italy.
This decoration features Swiss artist Angelica Kauffman's rococo influence and neoclassical style landscapes.
S.C. - Societa Ceramica Richard was in operation from 1873 to 1896. In 1896 it merged with Ginori, the prestigious Italian ceramics manufacturer known today.
Pictured are 3 bread plates baring Kauffman's signature decal with 2 women standing and 2 sitting among each other. The other 3 plates feature 2 women playing with an infant with flowers on a vine. The last plate features 3 women speaking with a man, all on a flourishing landscape. Every plate bears rose bud foliate motifs, gold gilt edge. This set makes the perfect addition to a S.C. Richard service, or to start a historic Ginori porcelain collection!
All plates have the S.C. Richard back stamp of a Gryphon with the Milanese flag and shield in green "S.C. RICHARD" Please see photos for more detailed numbers as they vary. Each plate measures 5.5" diameter.
No repairs or cracks, some crazing can be seen. Some plates have manufacturing flaws and some have chips from age which are detailed in pictures.
Minimal surface wear suggests these were barely used.
